Lōtik looks back on 2017

2017 has been a fruitful one for Lōtik and we figured what better time than the end of the year to reflect on all that has gone into making our technology what it is today.

First things first, a big thank you to Samsung NEXT, which invested in our startup from the beginning and provided an amazing location for us to work surrounded by other inspiring companies. That inspiration and support has certainly paid off.

As you can see from the image above, the design and functionality of our wireless sensor, which helps detect leaks before they happen, have evolved quite a bit, in partnership with a number of firms across the country:

  • Version 1 was our prototype designed and produced with New York City-based Tomorrow Lab to test proof of concept and bring the product to life. Tomorrow Lab’s efforts were instrumental in enabling Lōtik to deploy its first pilot.
  • Version 2 improved upon the prototype by extending the sensor’s range, incorporating LoRa technology to reliably collect data, and making it easier to attach to water pipes. It was designed by Oregon-based firm, Rigado.
  • Version 3 is Lōtik’s current sensor designed by New York City-based Pensa and Volta Labs. The sensor is designed with a glossy finish to match bathroom interiors and includes a longer battery life and improved attachment mechanism.

The current sensor will be commercially available soon, and we are proud to announce its circuit board will be manufactured, assembled, and tested entirely in the United States through a partnership with a firm based in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Interested in installing sensors in your building?
